Citymobil is a multi-mobility service offering taxi hailing, carsharing, scooter rental, and delivery services to city residents.

The best user experience

Competition in taxi services is not all about pricing. It is also the customer experience, including that of the application. Data download speed, how easy is it to select an address or navigate the map, is the interface intuitive.


The task was to improve the key metrics of product convenience through Urbi technologies.

Comfort and convenience of drivers

Besides passengers, Citymobil has a second key audience to compete for: the drivers. And for the drivers, the quality of navigation and the accuracy of routes and maps are critical.

Problems with built-in navigation were one of the most frequent complaints of Citymobil drivers.

Maximum forecast accuracy

Estimations of the arrival time and the travel time are among the most crucial metrics in the ride-hailing business. If the time is overestimated, passengers refuse to travel and do not trust the service. If it's underestimated, the trips are less profitable, and the company loses money.

Technologies used

Urbi has provided Citimobil with innovative digital solutions to optimize route planning and enhance efficiency.

Search SDK

The Geocoder API↗ carries out the selection of departure and destination points.
The search bar uses Suggest API↗
and Places API↗.

Navigation SDK

The integration of the Navigation SDK eliminated the need to launch a separate navigation app in addition to the app for drivers.
The SDK provides routing, traffic signs, camera alerts, and other navigational features.

Maps SDK

Applications for passengers and drivers switched to iOS↗ and Android SDK↗ by Urbi.
The map is fully configured in the Style Editor to match the corporate identity of Citymobil and meet the needs of the taxi service.

Routing API

To assign orders to drivers optimally, Isochrone API↗ and Distance Matrix API↗ are used. After the order is assigned, the Directions API↗ performs the time and route calculations. Drawing the route on the map works by Mobile SDK ↗.

Results

Accurate and up-to-date cartography

Switching to an Urbi map has brought user experience to a new level, significantly increasing customer satisfaction. It has become much easier for drivers to navigate the way to the client. And passengers now could effortlessly choose pick-up and destination points directly on the map.

Seamless driver experience

Thanks to the integration of the navigator into the drivers' app, there is no need to switch between different applications: the current route and all information about upcoming orders are visible on one screen.

High-quality and fast search

Urbi search helped users find addresses faster. CTR-1 increased by 5% after switching to Urbi services.

Forecast accuracy

Forecasts of the arrival time, the duration and consequently the cost of the trip significantly improved.
The forecast MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) became the best on the market.
